Another ball of paper flew into the wastepaper basket. Sam let out a moan of agony. She had been attempting to write her vows for days now and she couldn't seem to get the words right. For one thing words never came to her easily when it came to this kind of thing, ask her to explain how a Naquadah generator works and she could tell you, ask her to write down all her thoughts about a person and she just babbled on incoherently on the page. She knew how she felt about Janet, and she could tell her, but when it came to writing it down in the form of vows… the task seemed impossible.
She had never listened to so many love songs in her life. She thought that they might give her some ideas, instead she found herself simply jotting down the lyrics to: "From this moment", "When you say nothing at all", and "My best friend". Among many others. She threw the notepad down and fell back on the bed rubbing her eyes. It was Sunday night and she would be heading off world for a few days for a simple recon mission. There had been some interesting deposits on the planet that she wanted to check out and she was hoping they would be something useful.

Later in the afternoon Janet called.
"Hey babe, when are you coming home?" Sam asked hopefully. The voice on the other end was less enthusiastic. "I can't come home until I've taken care of the situation here. SG-11 came back with some sort of virus and I have them quarantined for the time being, I'm not sure what it is so until I figure it out…" Sam sighed. "Yeah, okay, I'm going to be helping Cassie with her homework tonight anyway." Janet sighed on the other end of the phone. "When will I see you?" She asked. Sam leaned her elbows on the kitchen counter. "I can stop by the infirmary before I leave, we're heading off to P3X-762 tomorrow for like, three days." Janet sighed again. "Okay, well I'll have to see you then. I have to go now my test results are in." Sam nodded. "Okay, well I'll see you tomorrow morning then." "Alright, I love you." Janet replied. "I love you too." Sam hung up the phone and scrubbed her face with her hands in frustration. She pulled herself together quickly and called up to Cassie.
"Cass, I'm going to the store to get stuff for dinner, did you want to come?" Cass's door and she called back down. "Okay, one second I'll be right down."

They had eaten a relatively quite dinner. Cassie had asked when Janet would be home, when Sam was leaving. Typical kid stuff. Sam found herself lost in her own thoughts, answering the child's questions absently. She thought of Janet, and their upcoming day. She had never felt like this about anyone in her life, and although she didn't think herself the marrying type she was ready to spend the rest of her life with this special woman.
She tucked Cassie in bed and said goodnight for the last time for a few days. She sat with her until the girl fell asleep at her request. Sam knew she was upset about her leaving again, but she understood that it was her job. Sam close the door but for a crack and turned to go to bed herself. The phone rang and she quickly answered it on the first ring to keep it quiet. She sat on the bed.
"Hello?" She answered. The voice on the other end was urgent. "Major, we need you to come to the Mountain ASAP." It was the General. Sam sighed inaudibly. "Yes Sir, let me get someone to look after Cassie." "Alright Major, see you soon." Sam hung up and quickly dialled another number. She hoped it wasn't too late. "Hello?" The voice was awake on the other end of the line. Sam began guiltily. "Hey Helen, I have a huge favour to ask you, Janet's at work and I have to head up there as soon as I can. Would you be able to look after Cassie tonight?" "Of course Sam." Helen said pleasantly on the other end. "Janet should be home tomorrow morning." Sam added. "Don't worry about it Sam." Helen was a God send. Sam thanked her and changed. When Helen arrived Sam explained that she would be gone for a few days and that Janet would be coming back later the next day. Cassie was asleep and there was food and drinks and that she was to help herself to whatever she wanted. Helen patted her on the back. "Don't worry about me Sam, go to work!" Sam hugged her friend quickly and thanked her again and ran out the door.
She hopped on her biked and sped away towards the Mountain. Hammond hadn't given her a clue as to why she was going. She hoped nothing too horrible had gone wrong, she really didn't have the energy to deal with huge disasters with the wedding so close.

Of course her hopes were dashed when she and the rest of the SG-1 teams sat in the briefing room. The planet they were supposed to be going to the next day was being ravaged by a massive storm.
"Our firsts scans with the MALP showed know intelligent life, but it appears that the population is nomadic." Daniel spoke pointing at the projection of the picture. "They know how to use the Stargate and have requested our help, several of them are injured." Sam looked at Hammond. "Can we get them in, Jan… I mean Doctor Frasier is booked with SG-11." Hammond shook his head. "No, they're fine she found the cure for the virus a few hours ago." He seemed surprised that she hadn't called. Sam nodded slowly. Jack spoke up. "Well, can we get onto the planet or not?" He asked Daniel. The younger man nodded. "I think so, the storm hasn't reached the Gate area yet, but it won't be long before it does." He looked at Hammond. "They're not technologically advanced, they're a simple nomadic group Sir I doubt very much that they would survive the storm." Hammond nodded, his large hands splayed on the table. "You have a go, bring them back safely." They all stood as he did. Sam approached Daniel. "We didn't see any signs of extreme weather when we sent the UAV out." Daniel nodded. "It just seemed to come out of nowhere." He replied as they headed to the gear-up room.
Sam finished dressing in her fatigues and put on her vest and hat. "Sir, I'm just going to go to the infirmary to check things out before we bring the natives back." This was only partly true, she wanted to see Janet too before they left. Jack nodded. "Alright Major, but make it snappy." She nodded and spun on her heel heading to the lift.

Janet turned from the machine she wa re-programming when she heard Sam walk in. She was dressed in her full "off world" gear, ready to go and rescue the natives of P3X-762. She looked back down at the machine and continued to work on it as Sam put her weapon down and wrapped her arms around Janet's waist and leaned her chin on the smaller woman's shoulder.
"Hey." She said softly in her ear, kissing her lovers neck. Janet still worked on the machine quietly. Sam turned her slowly so that she was looking up at the tall Major. "What's the matter?" She asked in concern. Janet looked down and absently played with one of the flaps on the vest. She flattened her hand on Sam's chest. "It's nothing," She said it as though there was something else. Sam bent down to look in Janet's eyes, she saw the hint of tears in them. "Jan, what's wrong?" She tipped her head up gently so that Janet was looking at her once more. Janet stared into her blue eyes for a moment and leaned her head on Sam's chest. "I can't write my vows." She sobbed. Sam was shocked, then a little amused. She had to hold in a laugh. She hugged Janet closer. "That's all?" She asked the sniffling woman. Janet mumbled into Sam's vest. "What do you mean 'that's all?' that huge I can't even write my vows to you!" Sam pulled the small doctor away slightly and looked at her. "I've been having trouble too, you know if worst comes to worst Janet we can just say what comes to mind when we're up there." Janet leaned back into Sam and hugged her tightly. "Okay." She said. Sam gave her another squeeze and kissed her head. They let go of each other and Sam picked up her weapon off the bed. Janet took Sam's hand and pulled her close again pressing her lips against the blonde's. They kissed briefly, but passionately. "I have to go now." Sam said softly. Janet pressed her forehead against Sam's, then backed off and went back to the machine. "See you in a few!" Sam called out.

The planet was dialled and SG-1 stepped through the event horizon. Emerging on the other side they were hit with a blast of cold air and dust. The sky was black and full of lightening. Sam's hat blew off and she tried to catch it but it disappeared over a dune. She could hear O'Neill shouting to them.
"GET THEM TO THE GATE!" He called over the howling wind. Teal'c helped two elderly people towards the Gate and Daniel carried a small child. Sam gathered a group with O'Neill, corralling them to the Stargate. When the group was all gathered close to the Gate Sam ran to the DHD and started to dial home. A huge gust of wind nearly knocked her off balance and she caught her breath and finished typing the address. Teal'c went through first taking many natives with him, then Daniel with another group. Sam ran towards O'Neill she was just about to reach him when something flew at her and slammed into the back of her head. She flew into O'Neill, knocking him to the ground. He pulled himself up and dragged the unconscious Major to the gate ad picked her up. He walked through the even horizon onto the other side.

Several of the natives had gashes and bruises from flying objects and they were taken to the infirmary. Sam had partly regained consciousness and saw that Daniel had a large gash on his face from being hit by a flying object. She heard O'Neill barking orders. Her eyes began to glaze and fog over.
"Hey! Carter! Open up!" He tapped her face, trying to keep her awake. She moaned at the pain that shot through her head.

Jack looked at his hand, the one that had been holding Carter's head up. It was covered in blood.
"Oh crap!" He exclaimed. "Hey! We need help over here!" An attendant grabbed the only available wheel chair and spun away with Carter. Jack wiped the blood from his hands and watched as Daniel followed Carter and the attendant to the Infirmary. He saw Hammond coming through the doors.
"What the Hell happened over there?" He exclaimed. Jack finished cleaning his hands as best he could and replied. "Flying stuff Sir, lots of flying stuff. Daniel got it with a rake or something and Carter took a portable tent to the head." Hammond looked at the blood on the Colonel. "I take it that's not yours?" He asked. Jack looked at it. He shook his head. "No, Carter's."
Janet rushed around the infirmary shouting at the attendants and other doctors. She didn't know that Sam was about to be rushed through the doors to her infirmary. She stitched up one of the young children's legs and the mother's arm. Several people were in need of only ice packs and some pain killers. She heard the doors open one more time and Daniel shouted.
"Janet! Here!" She looked over her shoulder in dismay at the large gash on his face. Then down at the wheel chair at Sam whose bloody head lulled forward. She handed a bandage to the other doctor to finish and rushed to Sam, kneeling down she lifted her lovers head and pointed her light into her eyes. Her pupils were hardly responsive.
"Sam? Sam can you hear me?" Sam's glassy eyes tried to fix on her. "Janet?" She asked groggily. "We need to get her to the operating room!" Janet shouted taking Sam and putting her on a stretcher. "Open up OR two now!" She barked at the attendant.

Sam was given a local anaesthetic as Janet worked on her split head. She had to have her awake otherwise she could loose her. Her heart rate was normal but Sam was in a lot of pain. She worked for over an hour to close the wound safely.
Hammond spoke over the PA. He had just arrived and wanted to know her progress. "I've stopped the bleeding and closed the wound." Janet said with every inch of professionalism. He nodded. "Good work Doctor."

In the scrub room Janet was alone. She peeled the gloves off and washed her hands. She took her scrub cap off and shook her hair. She leaned against the sink, her head down. She wouldn't let herself cry, she took a deep shuddering breath and left the room.

Jack, Teal'c and the newly bandaged Daniel stood in the recovery room next to Sam's bed. She was groggy, but able to speak for a little bit. She smiled at them as they wished her a "Get Well". Jack patted her on the shoulder. "You'll be fine Kiddo." He said with a smile. She nodded. "Sure will, I'm getting married this weekend." Daniel smiled broadly. They left her with some goodies they had bought for her and she closed her eyes allowing sleep to consume her.

Janet called the house and Helen picked up. It was early morning and Hammond had informed her that their friend was looking after Cassie. Janet knew she wouldn't be at school yet and wanted to check in on her.
"Hi Helen, it's Janet. Yes could you pass her to me? Thanks." Cassie's voice piped up on the phone. "Mom! Hi, I miss you, Sam had to go to…" She paused. "Work last night Helen said. Is she… gone yet?" Janet sighed, she didn't want to lie, but she wasn't going to let her daughter worry about Sam all day at school." Janet rubbed her eyes. "There's been a bit of a delay, Sam's still here for now. I'll be home later this afternoon when you come home from school okay?" Cassie sighed audibly. "Okay, I have to go now mom the bus is here, I love you." Janet smiled, "I love you too." She hung up and sat at her desk. She wanted to be by Sam's side but she had a lot of work to do in here first. She set to it, to get it done as fast as she could.

Sam's brow furrowed in her sleep. Each of her friends had been in numerous times over the last few hours in lieu of Janet's workload. She had been asleep for most of their visits and they had let her rest. Daniel was the last one in the afternoon to come and see her. He watched her fitful sleep unsure as whether he should wake her or not.
"Janet…" She said in her dream. Daniel looked over not sure if she was talking in her sleep or not. Sam bit her lip unconsciously. Her face was stuck in a scowl, her arms twitched and she moaned unhappily. She opened her eyes and frowned. "Daniel, my head hurts." She said to him. He put his book down and took her hand. "I'll get someone Sam." He said softly. He stood up and found a nurse. She gave Sam some more pain medication. "Is Janet still here?" She asked the nurse. She nodded. "She's in her office doing some paper work, did you want me to have her paged?" Sam shook her head. "No, don't worry about it, but make sure she get's home sometime this afternoon." The nurse smiled and nodded. "I will Major." She walked away and Daniel stood next to her now, looking down at her with a small smile. "Feeling better?" He asked. She nodded. "A little, has Janet been here?" Daniel nodded. "A couple times, but you were sleeping." He patted her leg. "I have to get going, but we'll all be back tomorrow." Sam smiled. "Thanks Daniel." He kissed her forehead. "Don't mention it." He said and left the room.

Janet rubbed her eyes for what felt like the millionth time that day. She looked at her watch. She had to get out of here before she spent another hour pouring over notes and charts. She took her lab coat off and got her car keys and purse.
She made her way to the Infirmary. Sam's eyes were closed but they opened when she heard the familiar sound of Janet's shoes on the floor. She shimmied up in the bed and smiled at her lover.
"Long time no see." Sam said groggily. Janet sat on the edge of the bed, she brushed her bangs from her face and kissed Sam gently. "Yeah, sorry about that." Sam nodded slowly. She swallowed before speaking. "I know, lots of work." Janet nodded. "I'm heading home for a bit okay? I'll bring Cassie in to see you later tonight after dinner alright?" Sam nodded again. "Alright." She replied. Janet kissed Sam again, their lips lingered delicately. "Love you." Sam kissed her again. "Love you too."

Janet walked to her car, brushing tears from her cheeks as she unlocked the door.
"Hey Doc, mind if I come and see Cass?" Called a familiar voice. Janet put on her best happy face and turned around. "Oh, hi Jack, of course, I was just going to pick her up from school." Jack nodded. He opened his truck door. "Meet ya at your place then." She smiled as she climbed into her own car.

Cassie saw Janet leaning against the car's hood and skipped towards her waving to her friends as she went. Janet gathered her in a bear hug, then took Cassie's backpack. "How was your day?" Janet asked as they drove out of the parking lot. Cassie held up a small clay ring. "I made this in art class." Janet glanced at it quickly, then adjusted her eyes back on the road. "What is it Hon?" She asked. Cassie smiled. "It's the Stargate." Janet's eyes flicked cautiously back to her daughter. "Cassie?" She said. Cassie tapped her mom's arm. "It's okay, I didn't say anything, I just told everyone I had imagined the shape. You know I'm not going to tell anybody you told me not to." Janet trusted her daughter, but it still made her a little nervous. She nodded. "I know." She replied.

When they pulled into the driveway Cassie bounced happily in her seat when she saw Jack's truck in the street.
"Jack's here!" She said excitedly. The car had only just come to a stop when she leapt out of it and ran to the truck. Jack popped out and handed Cassie a paper bag. She squealed happily when she looked inside and found a doughnut. Janet laughed and shook her head, her daughter had a sweet tooth. She got her bag out of the car and followed the other two to the door.
She let Jack in first followed by Cassie babbling about her day to the Colonel. Janet tossed her keys into the bowl and hung her purse up on it's hook. She collapsed on the couch in the living room. Jack was listening to Cassie go on about how much she loved her math class as she prepared a plate and glass of milk for her treat.

Sam was tired, but she was hungry now too. She got up contrary to everyone's orders and headed towards the commissary. It was well past lunch but not quite dinner. She was able to con some blue jell-o from one of the cooks as long as she went back to the recovery room with it. She padded her way back to the room. She sat on the bed and ate the cool food slowly. She looked around the room and her pack caught her eye. She set the bowl down and swallowed the jell-o. She opened her pack and took out her leather notepad and pen. She moved back to the bed and sat down. She opened the book up to a fresh page and began to write.

Janet,
There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about you. You're with me no matter where I am. I want to wake up to your face every morning and fall asleep with you in my arms each night. Loving you is easy and wonderful. I want to spend the rest of my days telling you how beautiful you are. Before I met you, I didn't know who I was. My life was empty and now it is whole. Your smile is enough to brighten the world and I'll spend each day making you do just that. I love you Janet Frasier with all I have, I pledge my heart to you…

Sam wrinkled her nose. 'Corny'. She thought as she flipped the page and tried to start over.

There is no one in the world capable of making me laugh, smile and cry like you Janet Frasier. I feel like I've known you my entire life, and I know I want to know you for the rest of it. No matter what happens I will always love you with every inch of my being. No matter where you are, I'll always be right there, and you with me. Till death and on I'll always be yours.

She still felt the words didn't do her love for Janet justice. She grew frustrated and tossed the book back into her pack. She groaned as her head pounded slightly and looked at the clock. 5:14PM. She had to wait at least another hour for Janet and Cassie to come by so she decided she would sleep. It came just as easily as it had before.

Jack stayed for dinner by request of Cassie. Janet thought she should oblige, she was going to have to tell her about Sam and with Jack there it would be easier. The young girl was watching television when Jack came in.
"Need any help Doc?" He asked. She finished cutting vegetables and piled them in to the Wok. She shook her head. "No, that's alright Jack, I'm almost done here now." He nodded and took a swig from the beer he was nursing. "You tell her about Carter yet?" He asked. Janet put the noodles into the water and shook her head. "No, not yet, I couldn't bare it." Jack nodded. "S'all right we can tell her together." He said sympathetically. He set the table for her while she finished making dinner. "I forgot to compliment you on the rock Doc, it's nice." Janet smiled and looked at the ring she wore on her finger. "Thanks." She said softly, seeing Sam's face in the diamond.
As they ate Janet looked at Jack, he nodded to her and she started the conversation. "So, Cassandra we're going to go up to the Mountain tonight." Cassie looked up happily. "Are we going to see Uncle Daniel and George?" She asked. Janet shook her head. "No, they won't be there Honey. We're going to see Sam." Cassie's eyes widened and she put her fork down. She swallowed her bite of food and spoke with a quavering voice. "What's wrong with Sam?" She asked. Jack looked over at the panic stricken girl. "She's okay, your mom fixed her up good, she got a bump on the head, she just had to get better before she could come home." Cassie seemed to relax, but only slightly. Janet looked at the concern in her daughter's eyes. "She might be able to come back home tonight if she's feeling better." She said hopefully. Truth was, she didn't know if Sam's condition was going to get worse or better, the gash had been deep.
They loaded their dishes in the washer and headed out to the vehicles. Cassie wanted to ride with Jack, so Janet was alone with her thoughts on the way to the Mountain.

They made their way to the Med Level and to the recovery room. Sam was lying in the bed, an IV now in her arm. She was pale and drawn looking. Janet looked at the attendant in confusion. The woman gave her a guilty look.
"She snuck out Doctor." Janet's eyes flared at the woman, and that was enough, the attendant left the room without another word. Janet moved over to Sam's chart. Her condition had worsened slightly and she was now being given antibiotics. Sam grimaced at the look her lover was giving her.
"What were you thinking?" Janet questioned. Sam rolled her eyes. "I was hungry Janet, and there was no way I was eating any of the stuff they were going to give me so I got some jell-o from the commissary." Janet hooked the chart back on the end of the bed and crossed her arms. "You were not supposed to get out of the bed. Now I'm going to have to rethink taking you back home with me." Sam gave her a withering look, it was almost a pout and Janet could hardly resist that. She pointed to the door. "Cassandra came to visit you, the Colonel is here too." Sam smiled at the sound of Cassie's name. The little girl came bounding into the room, O'Neill in toe.
"Sam! Are you okay?" She hugged Sam gently and looked into her eyes concentrating. "I'll be fine." She said smiling at Janet from over Cassie's shoulder. She saw O'Neill. "Sir." She acknowledged. He nodded. "Hey Carter." He replied. They talked for over an hour about all the things Cassie had done at school, the treat Jack had brought for her, and whether or not she was going to come back with them. Jack took Cassie into the hall as per Janet's request.
"Sam? Do you want to postpone the wedding?" She asked, smoothing Sam's blonde bangs back behind her ear. Sam raised an eyebrow, "No, why do you?" She queried. Janet gave her a concerned glance. "No, I just wasn't sure if you'd feel up to it this weekend." Sam's brow furrowed. "If they have to they'll wheel me there." She said. Sam looked at Janet, she didn't look right. "Janet?" Her lover looked at her. "Janet, what's the matter? Why do you want to know if I want to postpone the wedding?" Janet took a breath, her eyes were shimmering. "Sam, I screwed up my last marriage, what if I screw up ours?" Sam sat up and took Janet's face in her hands. "You did not screw up your marriage Janet." She was going to protest but Sam quieted her with a swift passionate kiss. "You didn't do anything wrong." She whispered. Janet nodded, Sam wiped a tear
from her cheek. "Now." She said. "Take me home woman!" She said with a hint of jest.

Sam's head hurt. It was like she had been knocked out all over again. She stumbled into the bathroom trying not to wake up Janet as she did. Her stomach lurched at the pain of the migraine and she threw the toilette seat up and retched. Moving over to the door she was about to close her arms gave out just in time for Janet to rush into the bathroom. She pulled Sam up and towards the toilette as she retched again. Sam weakly flushed it and laid her head on the cool tiles. She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and felt a warm bead of sweat trickle down her back.
"Janet? What's happening?" She asked breathlessly. Janet felt her forehead. "It's an after affect of the concussion." She said. She stood up and got a cloth out of the cupboard and soaked it in cool water. She dabbed Sam's neck and forehead. Sam pushed her hand away. "Please go away." She said weakly. Janet removed her hand. "Sam I am still your doctor." Sam looked uneasily from the toilette bowl to Janet and back again. "But you're also my lover and I really can't handle you seeing me like this." She lurched over the bowl again, heaving dryly. Janet cocked her head in concern. "Sam, are you sure?" She asked. Sam nodded and flushed again. Janet got up off her knees and placed the cloth on the counter. "Tell me if you need anything. Please." Sam nodded again, waving her hand absently at the door.
Several minutes later when she felt she had emptied her system Sam stood shakily up and looked at her reflection in the mirror. Her eyes had large dark purple circles under them and she was pale and sweaty. "Well you've looked better." She said to herself. She turned the tap on and splashed the cool water over her face. She took some aspirin, brushed her teeth, and headed back into the room. Before climbing back into the bed she changed her pyjamas. When she finally made it into the comfort of the bed Janet had fallen back to sleep. Sam stayed on the far half so not to disturb her too much. In a few minutes Janet had unconsciously bridged the gap and now had one arm draped comfortably around her. Sam snuggled into the bed feeling drowsy, but better.

The sun shone into the room later the next morning. Sam woke to find Janet missing and a note on her pillow.

Gone to work, Hammond gave you the day off. Use it, Doctor's orders. I'll call you later in the morning. I love you, Janet.

Sam rose a bit groggy and sore. The sick feeling in her stomach was gone, but the throb in her head was still there. She felt the lump on the back of her skull self consciously. She padded into the bathroom and readied herself for a shower.
When she was finished she climbed carefully out of the tub, wrapped a towel around her and glided back into the room. As she did the phone rang.
"Hello?" She answered. It was Janet as promised. "Good, you're up have you eaten anything yet?" Sam sat on the edge of the bed. "No, I just had a shower." "Take it easy with breakfast." Sam rolled her eyes. "Okay, thanks mom." Janet laughed a little. "I was just calling to say good morning and see how you're feeling. I have to get back to work I have a ton of things to do besides meet the Chaplin about my vows." Sam smiled. "Okay, thanks honey. I'll let you go then." "Okay, take it slow today Sam." Sam sighed. "Yes, yes, I love you." Janet laughed again. "I love you too." She hung up. Sam put the phone back down and went to the closet. She wasn't going anywhere so she decided on sweats. 'Nobody to impress'. She thought almost gleefully.

Several hours later Sam was bored. She had nothing to do… Well the truth was she had a ton of things to do, just most of them had to do with heavy objects and machinery. Janet would have her head if she even attempted to work on her bike. She slapped the TV converter down on the table and looked around. She saw a bridal magazine shoved in the magazine rack and smiled. It seems her little doctor was hiding her excitement. She picked it up and flipped through it. A page caught her eye: "The Perfect Honey Moon." The page was dog-eared. Sam grinned as she saw all the exotic places they could go, then it hit her… she knew exactly where to take Janet for their vacation. She picked up the cordless kitchen phone and dialled. She waited and waited. Then the voice she was looking for picked up.
"Yeah?" O'Neill said into the phone. "Oh, hi sir it's Carter." He paused. "Yeah?" He said again. "Uh, I had a question, or rather a favour to ask of you sir…"

"She what?" General Hammond asked dubiously. Jack held up his hands. "That's what she said, she wants to have the ceremony here, and Gate over to that one little planet with the sunny beaches for their Honeymoon, only you can't say anything about this to Doctor Frasier, it's a surprise." Hammond leaned on his desk. "You're damn right it is." He said. He looked at the floor and then back up at Jack. The Colonel spoke first. "Sir, after all they've been through the past year, I think we owe them this." Hammond sighed, he knew they owed them, but this was big. A vacation off world? He couldn't believe the Major had requested it in the first place. "Come on sir, it's just a week, they'll be back before you know it, they'd be gone that long anyways." Hammond nodded. "I suppose we do owe them this. I'll call her and let her know myself Colonel, don't you have something to be doing?" Jack jumped up as if he had forgotten. "Oh yes General, in fact I have a very hot date with an alien device that Daniel just brought back." Hammond did his best not to laugh and shooed the Colonel out the door. He closed his door and picked up one of the phones on his desk.
"Hello?" Sam answered. "Ah. Major, it's General Hammond." She practically came to attention. "Hello sir, I assume the Colonel spoke to you sir?" "Indeed he did, and I have decided to grant your request. You and Janet have certainly earned some time off… alone." He added the latter with less awkwardness than he had expected. Hammond could hear her smile in her voice. "Thank you sir!" He added. "Just don't get into any trouble, it might be a safe planet but you never know. It seems no matter where you go trouble seems to follow." Sam laughed. "Preaching to the choir sir." He laughed too. "Alright Major I'll see you tomorrow, get some rest now." She nodded. "Will do sir, thanks again."

The next few days flew by and soon it was Saturday. The women had chosen the perfect place to get married. The one place they were the most and where they had first met: The SGC. Sam also thought it would be more continent since they would be Gating to the sunny beach planet soon after the wedding.
The night before Daniel and the guys had thrown a "bachelor" party of sorts for Sam while Janet was given a night at the spa from them. She had thoroughly enjoyed herself and was in better condition than the slightly hung-over Sam. She took a couple aspirin before getting dressed. She and Janet had decided both would wear their dress uniforms, Janet had done the white dress thing already and Sam didn't want to picture herself in a wedding dress.

Jack, Sam, Teal'c and Daniel drove up to the Mountain together, with the medical staff escorting Janet.
The Gate Room had been transformed, thanks to General Hammond, Sergeant Siler and the rest of SG-1. Sam looked around.
"Wow, guys you've outdone yourselves!" Sam exclaimed. Jack puffed up. "Well, you know." He said proudly. General Hammond came over the PA. Sam looked up at him, dressed in his full uniform. "SG-1 Jacob will be arriving soon, I suggest you move off the ramp." Sam and the guys headed away from the Gate in time for the "incoming traveller." Announcement to come on. Fortunately it was Jacob. He came down the ramp and took Sam into his arms. "Good to see you Dad, I'm glad you could make it." Jacob held her in his arms. "And miss this, not for all the Goa'uld in the system." Sam laughed.

There wasn't to be a Wedding March, Sam and Janet had agreed it would be corny, so an instrumental tune was played. Sam and Jack stood at the top of the ramp. Sam had asked Jack to be her "best man", and he had accepted with as much grace as possible. Truth was he was glad he was the one to do it. They turned as Janet made her way towards them. When she was at the beginning of the ramp Sam walked to her and took her hand taking her up to the Chaplain. She smiled at her lover and it was returned by the brightest grin she had seen.

Janet looked into those deep blue eyes and nearly lost herself in them. Sam looked perfect. She squeezed her hand gently as Sam led her up the ramp. The stood in front of the Chaplain as he began.
"Dearly beloved we are gathered here today in the presence of friends and family to join these two woman in a bond of love. For the first time ever, I am happy that I am the one officiating." Sam and Janet smiled at him. "The ladies have decided to give their own vows to each other, so we shall let Samantha start." He motioned to the tall blonde Major. She took both of Janet's hands and looked into her brown eyes. Janet's heart skipped a beat at the intensity of Sam's gaze.
"Janet Frasier, from the moment I met you I knew you were the one for me. You have been on my mind every second since then. I promised myself no matter what happened I would spend the rest of my life making you laugh, making you happy, and that I would give all the love to you that I could possibly give. I could never have imagined that you felt the same way, but I'm glad you did. Through it all we've stuck together, and until death parts us I'll always be right there, with you forever. I love you and nothing could ever change that." Sam was slightly surprised how well that came out, she hadn't written a thing for the last few days but looking into those eyes she loved so much she knew exactly what to say.

Janet's tears fell freely as Sam finished her vows. She breathed in heavily and laughed as the Chaplain waited.
"Are you ready Janet?" She wiped her tears, and then took Sam's hands again. She looked up at her love's blue eyes and began her own vows.
"Samantha Carter, when we first met, it wasn't the most normal of circumstances." Many of the members of the SGC laughed, including Sam and Janet. "But as strange as our first meeting might have been, I couldn't help but notice you and my feelings for you only grew from there. We've been through so much in the last few years and I am so glad that I had you here with me. There is nobody else in this world I would trust as wholly with my life than you Sam and I want to spend the rest of my life with you." She felt more tears jump to her eyes and Sam gave her hand a squeeze. She smiled and continued. "We've got something here and I don't want it to end, but if anything was to ever happen I want you to know that I will never let go of you, I love you so much." She would have said more but her emotions were so raw she felt she should end it there. She saw tears in Sam's eyes and she couldn't wait to embrace her.

The Chaplain smiled. "Well, those were indeed wonderful vows. Now, Janet do you take Samantha to be your lawfully wedded partner from this day foreword  for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live?" Janet smiled up at Sam. "I do?" The Chaplain looked at Sam. "Samantha, do you take Janet to be your lawfully wedded partner from this day foreword for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live?" Sam nodded. "I do." He held their newly ringed hands. "Well then with the power invested in me by God and by the State of Colorado I now pronounce you… wife and wife. " He grinned at the women who returned the gesture. "You may now kiss the bride." He looked back and forth between the two. They laughed through their tears and Sam bent down wrapping her arms around her small wife and their lips met. There was a loud cheering and a whistle from Jack as the two continued their embrace. When they parted they were both breathless. Sam smiled widely at her father who had never seen her so happy. Sam took Janet in a big bear hug, nearly crushing the 5"2 doctor in his arms. He did the same with Sam seconds later.
"Congratulations you two." Hammond said coming over and hugging the two, more gently than Jack had. "Thank you sir." The two replied in unison.
Sam was reluctant to leave her wife's side as they mingled with the rest of the guests, thanking them for coming and just chatting. She found herself in a group who had begun talking about something she would have usually be engrossed in but she found herself staring at Janet who was talking to Daniel and Hammond. She cradled her champagne and smiled. Janet turned and caught her wife watching her and smiled back. Sam grinned and sent her a little wave. She was giddy like a school girl as Janet parted politely from the two men and glided up to Sam wrapping her arms around the tall Major's waist. She rested her head into her and sighed happily. Sam put her glass down and held Janet kissing the top of her head. "What do you say we get going?" Sam asked.

The room was full of "goodbyes", "Have fun's" and Jack's "Keep it PG!" Sam hugged her father. "See you when you get back." He said happily. Sam nodded. She said goodbye to her team mates, making a point of hugging Teal'c who surprisingly returned the gesture. "Bye guys!"
The Gate was dialled and opened and the two newlyweds stepped through the event horizon with a wave. Sam took Janet's hands and they disappeared.
